In 3D computer graphics, 3D modeling is the process of developing a mathematical representation of three-dimensional objects (both living and non-living) using specialized software. The final product of this effort is called a 3D model, which can be displayed as a two-dimensional image through a process called 3D rendering. Hence 3D rendering can be done from various angles to provide different views of the same 3D model. A 3D model, along with appropriate textures and materials, can also be used in the computer simulation of various physical phenomena.
These models exist only as digital files, not as real physical objects. It is possible to have 3d models "printed" out, using a 3D printer. The models can also be physically created using 3D Printing devices.
Models can be created automatically or manually. The manual modeling process of preparing data for 3D computer graphics is very similar to and as creative as plastic arts such as sculpting.
